Big Thank You!

This is my long overdue assignment (aside from having my wedding gown dry-cleaned) that I owe from my suppliers for helping us make our wedding a wonderful one.

Rule of Thirds by JR Salonga

I read about JR in GirlTalk. I have a list of all other photographers and let Lester decide. Fortunately, they also had a package with ReelHD. Lester and I love our photos. They were full of creativity and we can see his passion in photography through his shots. From our prenup to our wedding, each picture has a story. Yung iba, take pictures as a living. Kay JR, he takes pictures because he loves to, that's it. Kung baga, bonus nalang at binayaran siya. Kita naman sa kuha e. Our wedding was very simple but the pictures are very beautiful. My dad was also very happy with our pictures. Galing daw ng photographer namin! Very professional, though a busy person, he still makes sure to keep in touch to discuss things.

Ryan Borrel of ReelHD

I was surprised with how he did our SDE.  Every SDE kasi na pinopost niya, pinapanuod ko and I keep telling Lester, his videos are getting better and better. With this, I can say, pinag-aaralan niya yung couple and the song that goes to the video to put the right videos. I thought Ryan was very serious but he’s very light. It might have also helped that we talked to him in person a few days before our wedding to discuss how we wanted the video. We did not dictate how he will do it but instead told him that we want something fun, not very senti or dramatic. Yun lang ang instructions; we did not even choose songs for the SDE. We’re very happy with the output.

Froilan and Erik of FroilanErik Artistry

Recommended by JR Salonga, this team has amazing hands when it comes to airbrush makeup. Froilan did my make up while Erik did my hair. The first time I inquired, I did not book them right away. Although many brides from girltalk recommend them, I still had second thoughts. Buti nalang they joined a bridal fair so I was able to try their makeup and I liked it! They also did my make up during our prenup and many people noticed the make up was beautiful. Froi and Erik are very bubbly. You won’t get very tensed on your wedding day because they keep on cracking jokes. Looking at the photos, Froilan and Erik did a good job transforming me in to a wonderful bride.

Lowell and Chie of 7TenFive Events

Another hard to find supplier, an on-the-day wedding coordinator is very critical. This one, we need to really do some research because the output are not very visible over the net- your only basis will just be reviews. What I did, I made sure my coordinator has already worked with one of my suppliers (they have worked with Froi and Erik). Another professional, Sir Lowell is very respectful and easy to work with. The wedding day went very smooth, and was perfectly managed. Ma’am Chie was also very helpful – I did not book retouch so Ma’am Chie helped me fix my hair and put on a little more make-up during the reception. I’m very happy with how they worked – zero stress talaga sila – from the suppliers’ food to receiving of flowers to everything! Lowell was even our host and he did our programme outline. It was a lively event and there are parts of the program that were new to us. Comments came from guests, “ang galing ng host niyo”and even the pixture taking was not boring because of the crazy poses that engage the guests to watch the people taking pictures. Highly recommended, very professional, and very well organized!

First Plane Ride

Do you remember the first time you rode the plane? Nowadays, it’s very easy for kids to experience their first plane ride as fares are cheaper. Thanks to budget airlines that once had a vision that every person can ride a plane once in their lives. I took my first plane ride when I was 5 years old. Lucky to experience that young, I was with my mom and my sister when all of us rode the plane for the first time to travel. I had no idea what was this travel is all about, even did not have any knowledge where we’re going. All I knew was that, we’re riding the plane and we were going somewhere far where my dad studied his Master’s degree. Not all kids, during that time, had that chance. And definitely, not all kids had the chance to travel to Europe so I am most thankful to my lola (who’s in US) who gave us this opportunity. Here’s my picture back then. We had a stopover in Hongkong Airport and this innocent kid asked her mom why we were getting down the plane. My mom answered...

For Parents with Newborn: How to Get More Sleep

Not an expert on this one but I just want to share how we managed Sofia's sleep at night. When people ask me if I'm getting enough sleep since Sofia came, they are always surprised to hear that I get enough sleep ever since. Of course the first few weeks were zombie sleeping but it was just because I need to feed my daughter every 2 hours to stimulate my milk. But Sofia did not really (and is not) give us a hard time to get enough sleep.  I've heard some moms whose babies were wide awake and would play in the middle of the night. My daughter never did that. She'd only wake up and cry because of normal stuff like colic, too hot or too cold room temperature, wet diaper or simply wanted to be fed but not at all, because she wanted to play. So for moms with newborns coming, here are my tips. Some I got from a pediatrician. 1. Breastfeed and co-sleep. Of course, so to minimize the need to move. The first two and a half months, co-sleeping and breastfeeding did...

Little Big Thing of the Day: Thermos Cafe

We all know how hot these days have been and our only armor will be water to keep us hydrated. Lately, I have been waking up my husband in the middle of our sleep to get me a glass of water and to turn on our aircon and this has been a habit. My husband’s fat brain (in other words, matabang utak) thought of this brilliant idea to bring a good amount of water upstairs in our room and put the remote of our aircon beside us. To keep the water cold, (I’m sure this preggo doesn’t want to drink warm water when she’s dehydrated) Lester puts out his Thermo Cafe drinking bottle. Don’t get the title wrong, this thermos retains the temperatures of both hot and cold water. For us, we sleep at least six hours and the water is still cold when you wake up even until the afternoon. A good buy, my husband bought this for only a few hundred bucks in New Zealand around three years ago and still works wonders! I think this cost more than a thousand here in Manila but still it’s worth the price....
