Project Hennessy: Gate

Okay, I must admit, I am still lazy to choose photos for our wedding photo album. These days, I've been spending time surfing the net to do my research on designing our house. Yes, my husband and I have been planning this since last year and finally, we're almost there.

I learned a lot from my parents in planning our house. Just last year, 6 months before I got married, my family moved in to a beautiful home not far from our old house and a year before the transfer, I saw how my mom and dad prepared for this milestone. They spent weekends in hardware and home furniture shops and used their free time surfing the net to get ideas designing the house.

While Lester and I were in the search of looking for house, my dad introduced me to Houzz.com. It's like a magazine full of house design ideas all over the world. I downloaded the app last year and did a little browsing. For a while, I forgot about this app and was busy preparing for our wedding. And time flew so fast, now that I am using it.

Project Hennessy -that's how I call it (I called our wedding event as Project Whiskey). Though this time, I do not have an excel file with target dates and budgets, we know this is the first thing (or second or third, after choosing the location and price - the design of the house is common in our subdivision) we need to build before we move in - Gate.

Execution will always be the hardest part but I know we'll make this happen. Happy planning everyone, this is fun!

For Parents with Newborn: How to Get More Sleep

Not an expert on this one but I just want to share how we managed Sofia's sleep at night. When people ask me if I'm getting enough sleep since Sofia came, they are always surprised to hear that I get enough sleep ever since. Of course the first few weeks were zombie sleeping but it was just because I need to feed my daughter every 2 hours to stimulate my milk. But Sofia did not really (and is not) give us a hard time to get enough sleep.  I've heard some moms whose babies were wide awake and would play in the middle of the night. My daughter never did that. She'd only wake up and cry because of normal stuff like colic, too hot or too cold room temperature, wet diaper or simply wanted to be fed but not at all, because she wanted to play. So for moms with newborns coming, here are my tips. Some I got from a pediatrician. 1. Breastfeed and co-sleep. Of course, so to minimize the need to move. The first two and a half months, co-sleeping and breastfeeding did...

First Plane Ride

Do you remember the first time you rode the plane? Nowadays, it’s very easy for kids to experience their first plane ride as fares are cheaper. Thanks to budget airlines that once had a vision that every person can ride a plane once in their lives. I took my first plane ride when I was 5 years old. Lucky to experience that young, I was with my mom and my sister when all of us rode the plane for the first time to travel. I had no idea what was this travel is all about, even did not have any knowledge where we’re going. All I knew was that, we’re riding the plane and we were going somewhere far where my dad studied his Master’s degree. Not all kids, during that time, had that chance. And definitely, not all kids had the chance to travel to Europe so I am most thankful to my lola (who’s in US) who gave us this opportunity. Here’s my picture back then. We had a stopover in Hongkong Airport and this innocent kid asked her mom why we were getting down the plane. My mom answered...

My Married Life

Yesterday officially marked our 1 st month as husband and wife. It’s been a while since I have last posted here in my blog. These past few weeks were spent with a lot of errands since the “one week before the big day” started. Ever since I started my two week leave, my life went around preparing for the wedding, packing/unpacking my clothes, practicing loom bands and fixing my name. I think that explains all – why until now, I have yet to do the reviews for my suppliers. And by the way, I have to thank my suppliers once again.  I still owe them big time. I’ll make a separate blog entry about the wedding. Right now, let me just express myself as a newly wedded wife. After the wedding, we enjoyed a 5-day vacation in Bali, Indonesia and went back to reality. Life then became a little different. I started living in Bulacan, well, temporarily in my in-laws. We're waiting for our house to finish probably this August or September and then we're good to go! Living with my husba...
