Sunday Picks

Probably, my husband and I were those of the few people who did not care that Pacquiao-Algieri fight today. Blame it on me, my husband actually had an invite to watch the fight live but he opted to let me drag him to the Century Mall in Makati just for one thing- a bag. My husband knows how much I love bags that I opted this (one) bag in exchange of a shopping spree of clothes in one of the recently opened clothing line in Manila. Yes, my husband spoils me at times and he knows how, where and what should he spoil me at. I'm supposed to have three (or more) clothes but I exchanged it with a single bag- a leather bag called Niqua.

Watch out, as I blog this in detail when my order comes. For the mean time, here's my Century Mall guilts today. I stopped buying stuff for our house just this time and have something for myself and so, here are my picks for today. Rubi's flip-flops for a steal, Fully-booked planner that has so far, the only planner that passed my needs (white sheets and not bulky) and the best thing is, it's way below my budget, and I got this for free, Orogold's 24k moisturizing day cream.

My first time, I ordered omelette from iHop and unlimited coffee - probably the reason why I'm still awake at this time while my husband's already dreaming. And of course what's iHop without pancakes? What's more delighting? We had free blueberry pancakes! Here's how: ask where iHop is from the customer service and the rep will give you a coupon. Weeee! I love free stuff! :)

Cooking Fever: Gising-Gising

I cooked this once for my husband to satisfy his spicy taste. I first tried this in Recipes and found it yummy. :) Ingredients: Garlic, chopped Onions (Red), chopped Baguio beans, chopped into pieces Ground Pork Red Chili Pepper, chopped Green Chili Peppers (Siling haba) Coconut milk Salt, pepper and soy sauce to taste 1. Saute onions and garlic. Add the ground pork. 2. Add a little bit of soy sauce to taste.     3. Once the pork is cooked, add Coconut Milk. For this recipe, I used the instant ones (just add water!) but I think it'll taste better if you use those you can buy from the market.  4. Add Baguio beans (not string beans!) and all the chilis - depending on your taste. I used less red ones but separated my share because I'm not really into spicy food (except sisig!) 5. Put salt and pepper to taste 6. Serve This is my first blog to write about recipes so please pardon my instructions. I really do not know...

Worries of a Soon-to-be-Mom

Gestational Diabetes- that’s what my OB has been suspecting that might have two weeks ago when I had my check up. I’m guessing it was the mangoes, juice, and white rice and I thought the amount I was eating was just enough to satisfy my craving. But it seems not- though my endo was not really worried about it because my blood sugar and urine tests show normal results, my OB still insists I might have one. I was even thinking my OB is just over-acting on the situation and even still asked me to see the in-house endo in the hospital where I will give birth. It worries me a lot though – I see my daughter getting bigger everyday. I feel very normal though – I am not a big preggo mom. But with that suspicion, I needed to prick my finger three times a day for two weeks to check my blood sugar. All of these foods are very tempting but I’m doing this for my daughter. With that saying and to tone down the stress level, I’m avoiding hearing negative vibes around me- that I need to do this a...

All for Her

Thirty One weeks and we are almost there. I am still not sure if I’m already well-prepared for the delivery. We only have a few weeks to get stuff for our daughter but it seems to be not easy to look for time to do that. Lester and I have a whole day (at least 12 hours awake) at work and school (for my husband) and by the end of the week, all we want to do is rest at home. We’re going through a lot of big decisions lately and believe us, it’s emotionally and financially exhausting. Decisions that we need to consider our little child as well. It was different when we were just two. All decisions were easy, and it was just ourselves that we take responsibility. But I realize, it’s a journey and a hurdle that couples go through and as parents, we should be able to handle this well. And decisions we will make shall always be for our daughter. Anyway, you’re probably wondering, what’s that decision we need to make? It’s about breastfeeding! For almost all moms, it’s a no-brainer, we ...
