I recently attended Leadership Summit in our office and my
major takeaway: health first, then family, then work; and then do something aside
from work. Aside from cooking for my husband, somehow cleaning our house and
basically, manage the household, that’s it that I do after work. So found
myself regaining my passion in doing blogs. Since we’re in the middle of our preparations
to have a family, I think this blog is the best way to document things as we go
thru this journey. This will be my best way to share to my daughter/son what
went through while she/he was inside mommy’s tummy.
Four months pregnant- it wasn’t an easy one. Must be the
hormones or must be just a common thing to any pregnant woman. The day after my
second check-up, I had spotting. And it was really scary, very panicking and so
unsure. It was a Sunday, my OB’s probably at home and all she can advise was
just go to bed rest. The next morning, we had an ultrasound right away and
found out I had a little hemorrhage. I needed to take meds for a week and not
allowed to move a lot (bed rest in short). In the middle of that rest, I got
dehydrated, wasn’t able to take a lot of food and had tummy problems. The next
afternoon, I decided to be rushed to the hospital and that was my first ever
confinement. My husband and I spent three days in the hospital. My doctor did
nothing but observed me, I just had water direct to my veins and that’s it. But
it was a good rest and bonding for me and my husband. Oh, and it was Valentines
day! I came back to work the next morning and everything went well. But then a
day after, I was again rushed to the hospital. Though nothing serious happened,
I was again advised to take a rest for until weekend.
Two weeks after the spotting everything went well. We were
able to hear our baby’s heartbeat for the first time and imagine, this little
one had more than 3 ultrasounds for the first trimester. And then first
trimester passed, finally, I can move, and free from meds (aside from my
vitamins of course). I’m still unable to take milk- still afraid of tummy
issues and I needed more intake of fiber. Palm Sunday came, we planned to
attend mass after going to the market. We didn’t expect that bunch of people we
do not really encounter during regular Sundays. I was waiting for my husband to
park the car and didn’t enter the church. I already felt I had difficulty in
breathing so when my husband came, I asked for water. While sitting down, all I
can recall is that I was listening to the Homily. Next thing I know, a woman
was in front of me, trying to give me some air and my husband is trying his
best to carry me to rush me to the hospital. I was low-blood- BP went down to
90/70. Nothing serious, I just need food intake. But baby wasn’t cooperating,
we couldn’t hear his/her heart beat. So the next morning, we went to get
another ultrasound.
Though very tiring, financially and emotionally, all of
these are worth it. For our Little Javier, mommy and daddy will do everything.
Next check-up will be on May and this time, I won’t take candies (to keep up my
BP) so this little one will cooperate. We spent almost an hour inside my OB’s
clinic trying to locate baby’s heart beat through the Doppler. Again, we went
through another ultrasound, our 6th or 5th, I think. Baby
bump is still small but I cannot wear jeans anymore. I gain one to two pounds
every month which is fine (except when I was confined). Lester and I still have
plans to do so I’m trying to be in my best fit.
I admire co-preggos doing whatever they want while having
their bumps and that inspires me to keep on doing and going for whatever I want
too. During our first trimester, we were already open to the fact that we might
not be able to make it to our next travel but time flies so fast and we’re just
counting the days. Little Javier and I just need to be healthy and make sure I
drink my meds all the time. Lester and I keep thanking the Lord for staying
with us and for taking care of this child inside my tummy. Mom and Dad can’t
wait to see our little one in a few months. ‘Til my next blog folks, this is
just a jump start!
