Our Home

Yesterday was a full day for me and my fiance. We went to see our future house up north to measure the dimensions of the bedrooms, kitchen, dining and living rooms. My purpose is to check how little our furniture should be. Our house is quite small, but bigger than regular townhouses in the Metro. We've spent a lot of time looking for the best home that will fit our needs (and wants), failed once and lost around Php 15,000 and after a few months of searching, we have finally gave in to this house up north.

After going to our beloved jewelry maker to bring my jewelry for polishing and give them my design for a customized ring (if you guys need an engagement ring, wedding ring, or customized jewelries - necklace, bracelets or earrings, let me know. We have a trusted jewelry maker in Bulacan and they are very cheap), we went to Manila to finally get our invites. Yes, they are ready for distribution, so we'll be seeing some friends to personally handover our wedding invites. We stopped by SM to refresh ourselves and while strolling, I asked Lester to check out Our Home. Naks, parang totoo na!

I'm computing spending six digits just for furniture and appliances at home. Bed frames and mattress do not come together so to sum it all, I'm estimating spending around 30-40K for a double bed pa lang (mall price)! I will probably don't care at all. It's our bed! We still have to look for sofa sets, light enough to fit our living room. Lester's thinking of a sofa bed out of rattan and window blinds out of organic materials. Sabi ko, "alam mo ba kung gaano kamahal yun?" Imagine, a Kenneth Cobonpue furniture costs around triple or x4 the price of a regular sofa! We also tried looking putting the not so usual Venetian blinds but we found it too pricey in our home (new one in QC). But if that's what he likes, we will have to look for local suppliers of furniture, non-branded and cheaper.

It was fun and I am looking forward for more arguments and agreements on how our house will look like. The designs, material and the over all look matter to us - it's our home!

Cooking Fever: Gising-Gising

I cooked this once for my husband to satisfy his spicy taste. I first tried this in Recipes and found it yummy. :) Ingredients: Garlic, chopped Onions (Red), chopped Baguio beans, chopped into pieces Ground Pork Red Chili Pepper, chopped Green Chili Peppers (Siling haba) Coconut milk Salt, pepper and soy sauce to taste 1. Saute onions and garlic. Add the ground pork. 2. Add a little bit of soy sauce to taste.     3. Once the pork is cooked, add Coconut Milk. For this recipe, I used the instant ones (just add water!) but I think it'll taste better if you use those you can buy from the market.  4. Add Baguio beans (not string beans!) and all the chilis - depending on your taste. I used less red ones but separated my share because I'm not really into spicy food (except sisig!) 5. Put salt and pepper to taste 6. Serve This is my first blog to write about recipes so please pardon my instructions. I really do not know...

Worries of a Soon-to-be-Mom

Gestational Diabetes- that’s what my OB has been suspecting that might have two weeks ago when I had my check up. I’m guessing it was the mangoes, juice, and white rice and I thought the amount I was eating was just enough to satisfy my craving. But it seems not- though my endo was not really worried about it because my blood sugar and urine tests show normal results, my OB still insists I might have one. I was even thinking my OB is just over-acting on the situation and even still asked me to see the in-house endo in the hospital where I will give birth. It worries me a lot though – I see my daughter getting bigger everyday. I feel very normal though – I am not a big preggo mom. But with that suspicion, I needed to prick my finger three times a day for two weeks to check my blood sugar. All of these foods are very tempting but I’m doing this for my daughter. With that saying and to tone down the stress level, I’m avoiding hearing negative vibes around me- that I need to do this a...

Little Big Things: Baby Needs

Little Javier is halfway on its journey to see the world. Just like preparing for a wedding and moving to a new house, baby preps are just as exciting. I’ve been doing my research lately and my husband and I never get tired of window shopping for baby needs. Here are my top picks that I can’t wait to get for my little one: 1. Breast Pumps Breast milk is still best for babies. Being the eldest, I’ve learned how to feed my siblings while they were young except of course, breast milking them. As far as I can remember, they were (or we were) Promil kids and I was very used to mixing the formula powdered milk and water. But nowadays, breast feeding is very well-promoted. Even hospitals do not allow formula milks for new-born babies. I’m setting aside an amount to invest for breast pumps (and the accessories). After all, you’ll be saving a lot for formula milks. Planning to get myself a manual pump first – just to check and then later on, get an electric one. I’m a workin...
