Most of the brides-to-be - especially the kuripot ones- will think of DIYing their wedding invitation. Believe me, it wasn't easy. Ours was not all DIY. Of course the printing has to go thru thrift printing shops in Recto. Who would've thought this wedding invite cost us less than half a hundred peso including the layout, monogram and the drawing designs?
I initially thought of free online templates and just do some editing but unfortunately, it did not turn out elegant. Until my little sister, who happened to be my bridesmaid and has amazing creative inputs, helped me with the design. Her passion doing drawings reflected on the tools she had on her laptop and her magic drawing pen.
It was a collaborative effort that we spent one whole evening drawing and coloring in her laptop. Of course, photoshop did not fail us!
All flower designs were traced and colored by me and my sister. Dress code drawing was of course done by her also. The map, who else understands the roads but my fiance, was drawn in MSWord! I just edited it in photoshop to convert it into picture and make it transparent. And finally, the overall layout was conceptualize by the bride herself.
It went thru a three month journey- started with black standard fonts. Until I learned different styles from different wedding invites and also did a lot of tries just to figure out the perfect fonts and font colors. It wasn't easy, but I found a hidden creative side of this left brain girl. The layout went thru five or six revisions but overall, exceeds expectation for a first timer.
It was my first successful hardwork. I used to do crafts as a kid but ended up scrapping them that's why this one makes me really proud :)
I have this theory that all brides had in one way or another, a creative input in their wedding. Girls are naturally creative :)
Wedding's just a few days ahead. Excited bride here! :)
