On-the-Day Wedding Coordinator

Recently, engagements here and there are happening and wedding planning was the second best part of getting married (aside from of course, "getting married"). When Lester and I were starting the wedding plans, we initially thought of getting my sister and cousins to help me on our wedding day because we were carefully planning which of the expenses we can eliminate. After a couple of bookings for suppliers, we realized that on-the-day wedding coordinator is really a must. Thanks to my sister-in-law for sending us budget that we were supposed to put for musicians but we opted to use it for OTD. :) Budget tip: It's always a big help and it's not bad to receive wedding budget help from your families and friends :) But use it wisely!

However, there's a big responsibility behind getting an OTD. Still, you must do your planning carefully, and everything must be in order. I suggest to extensive research on wedding planning. There are lots of checklists, wedding timetable and budget templates available over the internet. As I've written before, google has been my bestfriend while doing the preps.

Of course, our wedding still had glitches. It wasn't perfect, but the planning worked out fine (at least!). I'm not an expert and I'm basing this from experience, here are some tips to help your on-the-day wedding coordinator ease their job. Remember, your OTD's will just work around on how you did your preps.

  1. Do extensive research. If you cannot allocate time for this, hire a full wedding coordinator and you may not proceed reading the rest of the items :)
  2. Do your research about the wedding timetable. I found a checklist about what to do 12 months before, 6 months and on the day of the wedding. Read, and follow the timeline.
  3. Upon booking an OTD, review the contract. Normally, they will list the things that we will do for you on the day. Meaning, those are the things that you should prepare for the wedding day. All other things essential to your wedding not listed in the contract will be your responsibility.
  4. Make a list of all the things you need on your wedding day. The OTD will provide you this list of essentials needed for the wedding. Make sure you put a check mark on each of the items.
  5. Upon putting a check mark, put them all inside a box. Make another list outside the box to label the things inside it. This way, your coordinators will have an easier time looking for things. Remember, they are yours, not theirs :)
  6. When you meet up with your coord, do your assignment. When he/she asks you to do this and that, do it. They still know better than us. They are professionals, and must have attended more weddings that you did so they still know what's best for the wedding.
  7. Not because "unlimited" consultation thru text is written in the contract, you can boggle them every now and then whenever there is a problem. Solve the issue first between you and your partner. If still you cannot solve it, then probably it's okay to ask. Always go back to the contract and review the service you are paying.
  8. If your OTD sees during your meet ups that you're doing your homework, they will sure provide excellent service on the day of your wedding :)
Tried and tested, not only you, the couple, will be happy for a smooth wedding, but the coordinators will be honored to have you as their customers as well. :)

I'm very happy also to help brides and grooms prepare for their wedding through my blog review. Lester meet up with 7Ten5 Events - our OTD wedding coordinator to book their service for my sister-in-law's wedding (And happy to have JR Salonga as well). Yey, we can have our pictures :) we forgot to have a picture with our suppliers during our wedding so probably next year, we can have one :) Anyway, not only did my sister-in-law was able to book them through us (and experience :D ) but I was able to help the Jaboom twins book them through my blog as well :) Yey! Mission accomplished :)

Sharing our picture during the wedding that shows happiness behind the hardwork. Thanks JR Salonga for this photo :)

Happy wedding preps to all brides and grooms to be. And for Lester and I, happy moving-day preps :) Yey! House in a few weeks! Good vibes!

First Plane Ride

Do you remember the first time you rode the plane? Nowadays, it’s very easy for kids to experience their first plane ride as fares are cheaper. Thanks to budget airlines that once had a vision that every person can ride a plane once in their lives. I took my first plane ride when I was 5 years old. Lucky to experience that young, I was with my mom and my sister when all of us rode the plane for the first time to travel. I had no idea what was this travel is all about, even did not have any knowledge where we’re going. All I knew was that, we’re riding the plane and we were going somewhere far where my dad studied his Master’s degree. Not all kids, during that time, had that chance. And definitely, not all kids had the chance to travel to Europe so I am most thankful to my lola (who’s in US) who gave us this opportunity. Here’s my picture back then. We had a stopover in Hongkong Airport and this innocent kid asked her mom why we were getting down the plane. My mom answered...

For Parents with Newborn: How to Get More Sleep

Not an expert on this one but I just want to share how we managed Sofia's sleep at night. When people ask me if I'm getting enough sleep since Sofia came, they are always surprised to hear that I get enough sleep ever since. Of course the first few weeks were zombie sleeping but it was just because I need to feed my daughter every 2 hours to stimulate my milk. But Sofia did not really (and is not) give us a hard time to get enough sleep.  I've heard some moms whose babies were wide awake and would play in the middle of the night. My daughter never did that. She'd only wake up and cry because of normal stuff like colic, too hot or too cold room temperature, wet diaper or simply wanted to be fed but not at all, because she wanted to play. So for moms with newborns coming, here are my tips. Some I got from a pediatrician. 1. Breastfeed and co-sleep. Of course, so to minimize the need to move. The first two and a half months, co-sleeping and breastfeeding did...

Little Big Thing of the Day: Thermos Cafe

We all know how hot these days have been and our only armor will be water to keep us hydrated. Lately, I have been waking up my husband in the middle of our sleep to get me a glass of water and to turn on our aircon and this has been a habit. My husband’s fat brain (in other words, matabang utak) thought of this brilliant idea to bring a good amount of water upstairs in our room and put the remote of our aircon beside us. To keep the water cold, (I’m sure this preggo doesn’t want to drink warm water when she’s dehydrated) Lester puts out his Thermo Cafe drinking bottle. Don’t get the title wrong, this thermos retains the temperatures of both hot and cold water. For us, we sleep at least six hours and the water is still cold when you wake up even until the afternoon. A good buy, my husband bought this for only a few hundred bucks in New Zealand around three years ago and still works wonders! I think this cost more than a thousand here in Manila but still it’s worth the price....
